Qualified Candidates Welcome to Submit Information

Greater New York Academy's induction ceremony for its chapter of the National Honor Society will be Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the school's auditorium.

To be eligible for membership consideration, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Additionally, potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service, and character. Members of the sophomore, junior and senior classes will be evaluated by the Faculty Council.

Leadership is based on the student's participation in two or more community or school activities, or election to an office. To meet the service requirement, the student must have been active in three or more service projects in the school and community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with both students and faculty.

Students will be screened by a Faculty Council consisting of five members of the faculty chosen by the principal. To be considered for membership submit the Student Activity Information Form to Mr. Vergel by January 26, 2007.

American Cancer Society Walk

17 students came out to support the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk today. It was a sunny day and everyone seemed to have had a great time.

New Chapter Officers Elected

Mr. Allyster P., was elected Chapter President for the 2006-2007 school year. Ms. Rishona J. was elected Secretary, and Mr. Jonathan V. was elected Treasurer.

As newly elected secretary of the chapter, Ms. J. will be in charge of this blog. Below are links to the minutes of the last two meetings. They are meant for her so that she can use them as guides for creating the ones from future meetings.
